I confess, I went a little overboard with the eviroganda stuff yesterday. Turns out that my sons did not get subjected to a bunch of enviroganda at school – Earth Day activities included a viewing of Planet Earth which is actually a pretty good series. I’m still offended by enviroganda, but I have to admit that my sons’ school usually does do a good job of avoiding politically charged topics so I probably should have had more faith in them. I still wish there were less extra-curricular activities and more regularly scheduled breaks, but that’s fodder for a future post. Read the rest of this entry »

Earth Day Annoyance
I confess, I’m a little annoyed by Earth Day. Before you start throwing things at your computer screen, let me clarify. I’m as offended by litter as much as the next guy/gal and kudos to Erin Brocovich for bringing PG&E to justice after they polluted their neighbors into ill health. And I do believe in conservation because my father was a Depression era child and he taught me to hate waste. And although many may think it quaint, it is my belief that overconsumption is a form of gluttony which is a sin. But those issues are all about private property and civil liberty not Mother Earth.
